Espresso

We have seen great reviews of the Gaggia Classic  or some of the other Gaggia products. James Hoffmann has a great video on getting the most out of the machine. Our tamper of choice would have to be the Normcore Spring loaded Tamper V4. It is very useful as it allows you to get an even tamp every time. Continuing with the Normcore theme their weiss distribution tool is our go to. Just try not to bend the needles! A WDT tool helps evenly distribute coffee grinds allowing for an even extraction without channeling. When it comes to making espresso a very important thing is the coffee! My personal favourite brand to go to is Square Mile Coffee Roasters. The rest of it is up to you!

V60

For a V60 there are many routes you can go. However, we use a Hario ceramic 2 cup V60 and a Fellow Stagg EKG Pro Studio Edition. The kettle is expensive and not necessary and you can pour from a regular kettle but we highly recommend a gooseneck kettle. If you don't want to spend a lot of money for a temperature control gooseneck kettle fellow and other brands also sell stovetop gooseneck kettles. For a V60 it is easier to preheat a plastic one but you can't beat the feel of high quality ceramic! We prefer a light roast for a V60 but a lighter medium would also taste great.
